Would they have to look to a change every time a leader died? Asterpaw shifted on her haunches from where she was sitting pretty much directly underneath the Highrock, ears perked and neck craning in order to be able to see Thunderclans two new leaders. Though she knew them, as well as the former leader by name only and not by personal connection, the announcement was causing a multitude of emotions to stir in her gut. Wolfstar seemed kind enough, but the she-cat that was standing next to him, glaring out over the clan sort of...rubbed her fur the wrong way. Still, she sat there quietly casting a glance in the general direction of the lion statue and wondering if Scorchstar was watching her, and all of Thunderclan right now. At least until one announcement made the unusually small 7-moon old jump to her paws with a high pitched -"What?!"

If Scorchstar was watching, he might be displeased. As would a lot of the older cats, probably. "But the naming ceremony is the biggest part of being an Apprentice or a Warrior!" Asterpaws tail gave itself a small twitch at her outburst and she twitched her whiskers, blinking up at the freshly appointed leaders "It's supposed to be a Clan thing for everyone, not just mentors and including our leaders. " it wasn't fair in her opinion to try and make a minor thing out of young cats earning their promotion in the clan. By Haushinka and Wolfstar deciding that they didn't want to do that anymore, it was like saying that the young cats weren't worth their time. She'd probably get into trouble for this, but Asterpaw had never been one for knowing when to shut up and had always been one for speaking her mind.

"All I'm saying is that when I was still a kit, the only thing more exciting then being an Apprentice was actually getting my name from Scorchstar, or one of the vices. It was an honour."

She had been ready for a fight, bracing herself for some kind of rebuttal or demand to be silent and was ready, with shoulders braced backwards and her chin lifted slightly in defiance. So Asterpaw was a bit taken aback when Wolfstar had began patiently explaining his reasoning for the end, temporary or not to the clans ceremonies. Slowly the little tabby had began to deflate her earlier shocked indignation turning into a mix of both relief and embarrassment that made her coat grow hot and her ears burn. Maybe I should have thought that one out a bit before I said anything.

Slowly sinking back down on to her haunches, Asterpaw had to admit that everything that Wolfstar said was the rational truth. Though she was glad that she had become an apprentice before any of this had happened and as such had received her name in the traditional way ...if cutting out the ceremonies now meant being sure that Thunderclan would remain strong and united against all of their enemies, possible or otherwise then she was all for it. Aster's ears perked as Wolfstar ended his speech and her eyes widened as his attention turned back to her and at his question.

Fidgeting her forepaws in a burst of uncharacteristic shyness, Asterpaw nodded her head. "Of course....and err...sorry. I kinda- I should have known there was a good reason behind your decision for the clan. "

She had just gotten a compliment from the leader of Thunderclan. It may have been more of a statement but she was going to take it as a compliment none the less. Unable to resist the glint that came to her dark eyes, nor the temptation to purr aloud Asterpaw did just that though she resigned herself to being quiet for the rest of this meeting. No sooner then the thought cross her mind Asterpaw felt the fur between her shoulder blades and along her spine rise in response to the aggressive snarl of Haushinka. Geez, what was this she-cats problem?

Irritation pricked her like a bunch of invisible shards of wood as she watched the exchange between the tom who had suggested the new ideas for the ceremonies and the snarling, clawing feline beside Wolfstar on the Highrock. When yet another cat joined the disagreement Aster couldn't help but mutter. "It is a good idea." this though was one argument she would be keeping herself out of.

"And all of you think that just sittin around here and feeling sorry for yourselves is going to change a thing?" The sharp meow came from none other than Asterpaw who had since retired from her duties about camp and turned to her nest for what she felt was a well deserved nap. Though she had been speaking rhetorically to everyone her eyes were fixed squarely on the gray and white she-cat who was currently raging silently at everyone near her. The 7 moon old young cat snorted softly, rolling onto her side and stretching her forepaws out in front of her, paws dangling over the edge of her nest.

"If that's how you feel, kindly take your hindparts somewhere else. All the negative energy is killing my relaxing time."

Peering over her shoulder, she caught sight of a newcomer...or rather a latecomer to the meeting and a tiny smirk curled her lips. Asterpaw waved her tail in an invitation for the cat, whoever he may be to join her in her seat more or less in front of the Highrock. In the face of this meeting, which was meant to be an official respectful acknowledgement of the passing of their former leader, Scorchstar and the ascent of the two new leaders it looked like it could quickly turn into a giant temperamental fit unless Wolfstar stepped in.

"Come on over and enjoy the show." Asterpaw said mischievously, although (hopefully) not loud enough to be overheard by the others.

Rolling her eyes at the dramatic exit, Asterpaw leaned her cheek against her outstretched foreleg and closed her eyes. "An' good riddance.." Though however much she tried, she couldn't fall back asleep. I certainly do NOT feel guilty about that cat and her little scene.Asterpaw rationalized before she sighed and dragged herself to her paws, peeking a head out of the Apprentice Den and casting a look around camp. Not seeing hide nor hair of the moody she-cat, she shrugged. She must have run out, not really my problem.

Spotting another apprentice dragging a bird off the Fresh-kill pile, one of the ones who had been talking in the den, Asterpaw hissed low between her teeth to get her attention. "Hey, you!" Though her words seemed harsh, the small tabby's expression was earnest as she nodded towards the camp entrance. "Aren't you going to go after her...your friend or something?"

For a moment she was distracted by the strange statement that the other cat had made, something about a fat lady. It was the second random little outburst during this meeting and Asterpaw wrinkled her brow quizzically before flicking her tail and turning her attention back to Bioshock with a friendly smile and a small snort of laughter.

"Yeah, I guess as long as everyone keeps their fur in one piece." Dark eyes widening at the spew of both curses and threats that flew from between Haushinka's bared lips Asterpaw tilted her head at her new company, expression comical. "Which in his case-" she nodded toward the former medicine cat "Might not be for long."

"I'd be scared if I were him."

Asterpaw was beginning to feel a bit awkward. Giving herself a mental push she slowly slunk fully out of the Apprentice Den, looping her tail high in the air over her back with a sort of half-false bravado. "You know, I might as well come with you. She looked mad enough to flay you or anyone else, alive. "

Asterpaw gave her head a small shake. She may be young, but she wasn't stupid. It seemed that with each word exchanged between Haushinka and Wolfsmoke their voices became more harsh, more aggressive until the very air seemed taught and ready to snap with the tension. Violet-tinged eyes flickered over the assembled clan as more cats either showed up looking confused and distressed or the ones who had been gathered from the beginning began to make their discomfort known. "Nah, they've got more than their whiskers in a twist." She murmured lowly with a side glance for the kit....wasn't that one of Wolfstars? Who began to sound out one of the many profanities that had been thrown into the air. Yes, it had all been very amusing until Haushinka had ordered Wolfsmoke to get out. Literally, as in Exiled.

Then, finally Wolfstar had stepped in, gaining yet another point in her book. Asterpaw watched, round-eyed as he had stepped in front of Haushinka turning and whispering something minutely to the enraged she-cat before he had addressed Wolfsmoke. Apprentice duties for a month? Bummer. Standing as Wolfstar called a end to the screwed up meeting, Asterpaw took a few steps toward the apprentice den though she had a gut feeling all wasn't quite over yet.

She couldn't help but wonder how such a seemingly sweet natured cat such as this Forgottenpaw could possibly be friends with that other apprentice. Whatever her name was. But they had been together and so ya never knew what to expect. Asterpaw gave a small grin. "Likewise. Now lead the way if we're goin to catch up with her."

Asterpaw was beginning to think that she didn't spend nearly as much time as she would have liked actually outside of the camp doing things other then being bored out of her mind by helping the Elders rearrange their den or taking care of their den. She had just become an apprentice but a moon and a half ago but really. Oh, she had been lectured too enough to know that 'Looking after your clanmates is just as important as any battle training' and that 'until she understood that she could look forward to the same duties.' The tabby snorted, rolling her eyes as she silently mocked the older cats words in her head. It wasn't as though she had an official mentor anyway. Well, if they weren't going to take her out and teach her anytime soon she was going to do it herself!

Aster gave her tail a self-pleased swoosh and picked up her pace until she was practically running into the Training Hollow hardly paying any mind as the sand flew up and stuck to her pelt. Actually not paying much attention to anything until a movement in the corner of her eyes caught her attention. What- Asterpaw skidded, rather ungracefully to a halt her eyes widening in surprise as they settled on the tabby cat that was currently standing calmly only a few tail-lengths ahead of her. No way that that's-

"Wolfstar?" She squeaked, her jaw almost gaping open before she caught herself and gave her coat a small shake, dipping her head briefly. "Err, I mean..." Asterpaw stammered for a moment. "Good morning!"

Funny, I was wondering the same thing about you. It wasn't everyday a cat would imagine seeing their Clan leader standing as clear as day in the Training Hollow unless of course, said clan leader had come to check up on the process of the Warriors and their Apprentices. Somehow, she didn't think that was the case. Getting over her initial wide-eyed shock Asterpaw perked up, her eyes bright with curiosity as she gazed at the much bigger tom. Well, don't just stand their like a mouse-brain! Say something!

"I got tired of hanging around camp and wanted to see the forest." Asterpaw blurted earnestly, once again not exactly thinking about everything that she said. The tabby gave her whiskers a small twitch as she thought about the usual tasks she was given. "See, I always get camp duties. Not that it's that big of a deal...but today I thought I'd come down here and see what the warriors do with their apprentices."

If it were possible for her eyes to roll out of her head they would be tumbling through the dirt at her paws right now. "Really?" Asterpaws voice took on a kitlike pitch the next time she managed to speak. She couldn't believe this. It was one thing to finally receive a mentor and so move on with the next level of her training...but to have Wolfstar the leader of Thunderclan however newly appointed he was, that was amazing. She had taken a liking to Wolfstar since the meeting, he seemed to be really nice, calm and wise. He'll be an awesome mentor!

And she would work on being a just as good apprentice. Unable to contain her excitement much longer Asterpaw gave a little skip into the air, practically bouncing in place in all her energy. Of course, then she remembered who exactly she was standing in front of. Asterpaw glanced up at Wolfstar with a sheepish grin as she forced herself to stand stone still, trying her best to remain serious and solemn. "Thank you, Wolfstar. It'll be a honor to have you as my mentor. " That was her very best impression of a senior warriors dignity, though the excitement that shone bright in her eyes gave her away.

"So what are we going to do now?" Asterpaw asked eagerly, glancing about the hollow.

Asterpaw flounced into the center of the camp, well away from the Highrock where the assortment of gathered cats was beginning to scatter as Wolfstar called it to an end. The little tabbys fur was still spiked with a mixture of both excitement and slight agitation at how the whole thing ended. She pawed through the Fresh-Kill pile, dragging the limp bodies of prey towards her before flipping it away carelessly and sorting through it all again. If any of the Warriors caught sight of her right now she'd be in for a chewing out. "Can you believe that meeting?!" Aster squeaked, sparing a glance over her shoulder at the dark tomcat who she was sure had followed her over here.

Curious, she tilted her head." So, what's your name anyway? I don't think we introduced ourselves, before."

    {OC: Bioshock, I PM'd you. Scootaloo, Wolfstar and Haushinka assembled the clan in order to officially announce the death of Scorchstar and their new positions as leader and co-leader. Vice-leader is no longer a position and the Vice leaders are now deputies. Flutterpaw was demoted as a medicine cat apprentice and it was also announced that the leaders would no longer be performing apprentice or warrior ceremonies and the said ceremonies would be performed by the apprentices mentors from now on. Wolfsmoke, former medicine cat made a suggestion of what could be done in replacement of that but Haushinka shot him down and an rather personal argument started between them. It escalated until Haushinka told Wolfsmoke to get out of her clan and then Wolfstar stepped in and ended the argument by telling Wolfsmoke he would have apprentice tasks for a month. The meeting dispersed but Wolfsmoke decided to leave anyway. *Gasps* That's all.}

"Bioshock, huh?" That was actually a pretty cool name. She refrained from saying as much though when she saw the little display he put on after he introduced himself to her. Instead she grinned, rolling her eyes before straightening up till she was practically balancing on the tip of her toes in an effort to appear taller. "Well, you sir, are speaking with Asterpaw...Of Thunderclan." Of course. That goes without being said.

Asterpaw pivoted so she was facing the Freshkill pile once more, rummaging through it again. "So how come you were late to the meeting?"

What? Paws stilling as she noticed his rather direct change of subject and the question that came after that, she slowly turned right back around to face Bioshock and eyed him up and down craftily. With you? Nah, she wasn't really looking for a fight, pretend or otherwise with any cat at the moment but then again, it wasn't like she had anything else to do and the more practice the better. She was no mouse-hearted kit either.

"Spar? With me?" Asterpaw repeated with exaggerated surprise before she gave her tail a dismissive wave. "Ya know, I would buuut...there's no possible way you could win." Smirking, she sunk back onto her haunches waiting for whatever his response would be. Playfully she rounded her eyes into an expression of innocence.
